achillea millefolium

bulk/capsule/extract

flower/herb

Used primarily to treat, cuts, bruises and burns. Yarrow is a productive antibiotic. It’s ability to reduce inflammation has also made it a treatment for ulcers and hemorrhoids.

YarrowYarrow contains a number of constituents--including azulene, camphor, eugenol, rutin, salicylic acid and tannins--that relieve pain and speed the healing of wounds, both externally and internally. Another chemical, thujone, has a mild sedative effect. Also contains the alkaloid achilleine; occasionally used in present times to stop a menstrual cycle.

Also recommended by herbalists for bruises, colds, fevers, hypertension and sore throats.

It's a mild digestive aid and may relieve menstrual cramps.

Many herbalists consider that if they were forced to choose only one native plant to use for multi purposes, it would be yarrow.

Not to be used during pregnancy. Very large doses of thujone can be poisonous.
