Used extensively in China for a variety of ailments. Sarsaparilla is a widely applicable alterative, anti-rheumatic, diuretic and diaphoretic. Known to be useful in enhancing digestive functioning.

It may be used to aid proper functioning of the body as a whole and in the correction of such diffuse systemic problems as skin and rheumatic conditions. It is particularly useful in scaling skin conditions such as psoriasis, especially where there is much irritation. As part of a wider treatment for chronic rheumatism it should be considered and is especially useful for rheumatoid arthritis.

Has been shown effective in treating venereal diseases like syphilis and gonorrhea. Try making the following Sarsaparilla tea. In a quart of boiling water, add two tablespoon each of Sarsaparilla and Yellowdock Root. Reduce heat, simmer covered for five minutes. Add 3½ teaspoon of Thyme. Cover again and steep an hour. Drink one to three cups daily as well as douching or washing sexual organs with the same often.

It has been shown that Sarsaparilla contains constituents with properties that aid testosterone activity in the body.

For psoriasis, it will combine well with Burdock, Yellowdock and Cleavers.

Sarsaparilla has also been extensively used in the food industry as a flavor component and foaming agent in root beer, frozen dairy desserts, candy and baked goods, and it has been approved for food use by the FDA.

Capsule: Take as directed
Decoction: One to two teaspoons three times a day
Tincture: One teaspoon three times a day

Indian Sarsaparilla is not recommended for those taking blood thinning agents.
