Part of the flavonoid family, Pycnogenol contains proanthocyanidins and related plant flavonoids. Not only is it a powerful antioxidant, it is also beneficial on many types of circulatory problems, such as phlebitis, varicose veins, peripheral hemorrhage, swelling of the legs due to water retention. Also used successfully to treat high blood pressure, diabetic retinopathy, leg cramps, and other problems associated with insufficient blood flow. Offering protection from cardiovascular disease, it may also lower cholesterol levels. Studies done with natural flavonoids have compared outstanding with those of drug-intervention studies.
50-100 mg and should be taken with Vitamin C, as they increase Vitamin C's absorption and are themselves powerful antioxidants.
