Pau d'Arco

inner bark

Pau d'Arco is from a tree native to Brazil. It has proven to be one of nature's best fungus infection fighter. Effective for such annoying ailments like athlete's foot and yeast infections. It contains three anti-yeast compounds--lapachol, beta-lapachone and xyloidine--that were shown to be effective against candida albicans and other common problem fungi. Lapachol is the weakest, but its anti-yeast action is comparable to that of the prescription anti-yeast medication ketaconazole (Nizoral).

Pau d'Arco is reputed to lower blood sugar levels and aid the digestive process. May be an adjunct to regular treatment of adult-onset diabetes.

The active constituent laprachol, may have anti-cancer potential and may help kill parasites. It possesses strong antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal properties, but its higher calling seems to be cancer therapy. In 1968 scientists at the National Cancer Institute learned that it has remarkable anti-carcinogenic properties.

This popular herb from South America, also helps to strengthen the immune system.
