"During my 20 year career as an herbal tea designer for national tea companies, I've created a broad array of herbal teas that are loved by millions. But one gap remained. Nowhere in the world has there been a caffeine-free match for robust espresso. Like many, I am caffeine sensitive -- even "de-caf" gives me the caffeine jitters. I became determined to create a brew that would satisfy the desire for a delightful cappucino or latte without any caffeine.
TEECCINO® (Tea-chee-no) was born out of my inspiration from the Mediterranean where so many of our foods originated. I have blended nutritious Greek Carob pods with roasted kernels of Barley, the staple grain of Rome. Roasted Chicory root from France brings its coffee-like flavor to deepen the brew. Sun-ripened Persian Figs and Arabian Dates contribute concentrated sweetness to balance the dark roasted herbs. Savory Almonds, roasted to a deep, golden brown, give a nutty note. Finely ground and carefully blended, TEECCINO'S herbs, grains, fruits, and nuts produce an ebony brown, full-bodied brew that departs from the tea world and enter the espresso realm...

When we think of cloistered Italian monks during the Middle Ages, images of
artfully lettered books and scrolls with hand painted borders, a cappella
choirs, and carefully tended vineyards comes to mind. Lesser known may be the
herbal recipes that were carefully guarded secrets handed down from herb master
to apprentice. Amaretto is one of these delicious and healthful herbal elixirs
whose fame has survived the centuries. So Italian in its delicious combination
of fruit, herb and nut flavors that tantalize and seduce your palate, Teeccino's
Almond Amaretto takes you back to a quieter time when we dearly valued exotic
herbs from far off places.
Has nature ever created a flavor more extraordinary than the coolness of
peppermint? Imagine if you discovered this little green leaf by the side of a
stream. Rubbing it between your fingers as you tried your first taste, your
senses would be assaulted by the impact of its icy aroma. "Eureka! "
you'd cry and run off to create a fabulous drink just like I did. Chocolate and
peppermint. Bless the first person who put them together. I humbly followed
suit. For tea lovers, you'll appreciate the slightly green flavor from the
peppermint leaves which takes the edge off its roasted flavor. Try it iced - its
our favorite with some milk and honey.
The first time I tasted hazelnuts was in France when my tastebuds were
tantalized by a jar of scrumptious spread. My schoolgirl French was put to the
test by "noisette" on the label. Too good to be peanut butter, not
almond, what was it? It was Hazelnut butter! My love affair with Hazelnuts began
then, but it really came to frutition when I designed Teeccino's Hazelnut. I
long since gave up rich foods, but here was the same richness with a nuttiness
that keeps you desiring it way past the last drop. Hazelnut is what the word
"Savoury" is meant to describe. Now you can enjoy something sinfully
rich without worrying.
After a couple of years, I finally gave in. This one is for the purists. They
want their coffee bitter and black. I cut down the dates and figs. I searched
for a natural coffee flavor that would give them the essence of the coffee bean
without the caffeine and acids. I remember the smile on a dear friend's face
when he tasted my finished formula. "Ah," he said, "you know I
love the other flavors, but this one is for me." That smile still warms my
heart.
I know few people who don't have a secret chocoholic side to their personality.
I like to say that chocolate is my drug of choice when I want an adrenal rush.
Fortunately in Teeccino, there's just enough cocoa powder to deliver that
desirable chocolate flavor, but without noticeable stimulation from Theobromine,
chocolate's main stimulant. Caffeine is such a small part of cocoa that it
doesn't show up in the cup of Teeccino. So when you want to indulge that
chocolate craving without the calories or the fat, you can safely find refuge in
Mocha.
I suppose this should have been my first flavor, but in fact I created it
fourth. It emerged to satisfy the desire for an unflavored herbal coffee by
people who relish the blackness of regular coffee. But being an herbal beverage
designer, I couldn't resist giving it just a hint of orange peel to produce a
fruity top note. There is something too wonderful about the contrast between the
intensity of a dark roast highlighted by the sparkle of sweet tanginess - well,
you'll just have to try it for yourself to see if you agree with me. If you
don't, and purity is your preference - try Java instead.
Vanilla
Nut was my original inspiration for creating Teeccino. I wanted to feature
Vanilla Beans from Mexico where Vanilla, an orchid that grows in the rainforest,
was originally discovered by the native people centuries before the Spanish
arrived. The Aztec Emperor, Montezuma, was said to be drinking an elixir for
longevity made from cacao, vanilla and honey when the conquistadors were ushered
in for an audience. It is no surprise to me that Vanilla Nut is our best seller.
Drink it knowing that you are helping indigenous communities find sustainable
livelihoods that preserve rainforests.
