| Inositol
seems to be involved in the body's use of fats and cholesterol, and have
been shown to alleviate or prevent the accumulation of abnormal quantities
of fat in the liver and around the internal organs.
Inositol is involved in the synthesis of phospholipids, which are essential to the digestion and absorption of fats, facilitate the uptake of fatty acids by the cells, and regulate the transport of material in and out of the cells. It probably also plays a role in controlling the action the action of some chemical messengers in the individual cells. Inositol may improve the transmission of electrical nerve signal in people with diabetic nerve damage and numbness.
