| The use of Fenugreek dates back to the ancient
Greeks and Romans. It has a centuries-old folk reputation as breast enlargers. It is used by non-pregnant women as a popular remedy for "female troubles"-- everything from menstrual pain to postmenopausal vaginal dryness, to bringing on a late menstrual period. Contains chemicals, phytoestrogens (diosgenin), similar to the female sex hormone estrogen. May also help women with a lack of sexual desire. Fenugreek gives women what is called a mastogenic effect. Estrogen causes growth of
breast cells and contributes to water retention, thus enlarging the breasts. Try It assists nursing mothers in increasing their breast milk. Fenugreek contains fluid-absorbing mucilage--helps relieve constipation and diarrhea. Take two teaspoons of whole Fenugreek seeds along with plenty of water. According to some studies, it may also reduce high levels of cholesterol and blood sugar in diabetics. Actually, about half of Fenugreek seed (by weight) is soluble fiber (mucilage). Along with six compounds that help regulate blood sugar levels. Fenugreek also increases blood levels of HDL ("good") cholesterol while lowering total cholesterol, thus helping prevent cardiovascular disease--particularly hazard for those with diabetes. Fenugreek may help in relieving sore throats, bronchitis, colds and coughs. One of the better sources of choline (1.3 percent), which conceivably helps prevent and treat Alzheimer's disease. Externally, it can help heal wounds, sores and reduce inflammation for arthritis sufferers.
