    General Q & A

    Q. Can you provide me with a catalog?

    A.  Although we sincerely appreciate your interest in all-natural products, we do not produce a hard copy, paper catalog. We save lots of trees that way!  The web site is a new medium and our "catalog".  We sell too many items and inventory and availability is constantly changing. You'll get a better idea of what we're all about if starting from our home page, www.herbalhut.comI recommend and encourage you to use all of our Search function. Should you need any assistance or cannot find an item, please email us at .  txt,mdb,xls.

    Q. How do I check the shipping charges?

    A.  The shipping charges are added in the checkout  process after you enter your address. You need not finalize order to check costs.  Sometimes the tables may not recognize your shipping address and give you a general shipping charge.  This mainly happens for overseas orders.  In these cases we reserve the right to adjust the shipping charges.  We charge the exact shipping costs as specified in the UPS and USA USPS/International USPS published rates.  You may check their web site to check shipping costs (click name). We ship from Salisbury, MD 21804 USA.

    Why is shipping so expensive? We make no profit from shipping. But to save money, order more to lower the shipping cost per item. You will see the cost of shipping doesn't increase very much by adding additional products.

    Q. Web pages don't seem to look right or text is hard to read.  How can I make them better?

    A.  Although we try to provide a comfortable shopping experience, it is sometimes difficult to convey the "message" considering the many different types of platforms available today.  Here are a few things you can try to alleviate some problems.  If the text seems to small to read, some browsers provide an option to change the size of the default fonts (in IE, select "View>Text Size).

    A. Please understand that we cannot prescribe, diagnose or treat any disease or illness. Questions pertaining to nutritional intervention for the prevention or treatment of a disease cannot be answered by us. Questions oriented to prescribing or diagnosing an illness are best addressed by a healthcare practitioner.

    Q. Why do some supplements have wording (a disclaimer) that says: "This statement has not been evaluated by the FDA. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease"?

    A.  This statement or "disclaimer" is required by law (DSHEA) when a manufacturer makes a structure/function claim on a dietary supplement label. In general, these claims describe the role of a nutrient or dietary ingredient intended to affect the structure or function of the body. The manufacturer is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and truthfulness of these claims; they are not approved by FDA. For this reason, the law says that if a dietary supplement label includes such a claim, it must state in a "disclaimer" that FDA has not evaluated this claim. The disclaimer must also state that this product is not intended to "diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease," because only a drug can legally make such a claim.

    Q. How come when I click on the Add to Basket icon nothing gets added to my Shopping Cart?

    A.  Most likely you are being presented with some options to choose, such as Size or Quantity Options using a drop-down or radio menu.  One or more options must be selected in order to be added to your cart.

    Q. I've lost my password. Where do I go to retrieve my password?

    A.  Go here.  Go here to change your login/password info.

    Q. How can I check the status of my order?

    A.  Visit "My Account" page to view order status, order history, edit profile, access My Wish List, view and print out invoice and access your address book.

    Q.  How do I return products?

    A.  We strive to gain 100% of your satisfaction. But some products may not live up to your expectations or we may ship the wrong item!  We offer this simple returns policy. Simply return any item(s) you are not happy within 30 days of receipt.  A ten (10%) percent restocking fee will apply to all returns and you are responsible for the return shipping charges, unless we shipped the incorrect item(s).  Please use sturdy packaging or the original shipping containers and insurance is recommended if shipping via USPS.     Please include a note with reason of return, and action you want us to take.

    Please email as soon as possible if what you received is not to your satisfaction.  We will not accept returns after 30 days of receipt of product.  Please provide a brief explanation and the course of action, i.e. credit/refund your charge account or send check; exchange for another item or if broken, exchange for another item.  You must file a claim with the carrier if arrived broken and sent insured. Only UPS includes free (covers up to $100) insurance.

    Q.  I received the order damaged. What should I do?

    A.  Try to save packaging for possible inspection by the corresponding carrier.  Items that were insured, can be replaced.  UPS offers free insurance coverage up to $100.  USPS offers free insurance on Express orders only. You may contact  or the proper carrier (US Postal Service or UPS) to file a claim.  We will replace the item(s), if available or offer refund after claim has settled.

    (To insure a USPS delivery, please request this service to be added at time of your order. (If ordering online, request this service in the "Special Instructions" field of the order form)).

     

    Q.  I did not authorize a transaction as shown in my credit card/bank statement. How do I resolve this billing error/dispute?

    A.  Please contact us immediately at 1-410-548-3395 or .  We can resolve the situation quicker than contacting your credit card institution.  If we receive notification of a chargeback (reverse charge as issued by your credit card bank) for correct items shipped (no fault of ours) you will incur a bank imposed surcharge of $25.00.

    Q.  Who certifies the organic products you sell?

    A. The organizations that certifies the products we sell as "organic" or "cert organic" are Quality Assurance International (QAI); Saskatchewan Organic Certification Association (SOCA); Organic Producers Association of Manitoba (OPAM).

    Q. Who certifies the products you sell as kosher and parve?

    Web Browsing and Navigation Tips

    • To return to the Herbal Hut Home Page simply click on "Home" located in the left and bottom border menus!
    • To make browsing easier, you will be presented with the product categories located on the left border.
    • For a simple keyword(s) search, enter any data in the "Search" field located on the left border.
    • For a more in-depth search using keywords (any, exact phrase, or all words), manufacturer, categories, pricing and dating, use Advanced Search located on the left or bottom border.
    • Please make sure to follow all on-screen instructions, especially in selecting your options (if any) and in the order form/checkout process.
    • If ordering more than one product, you will be presented with an option to ship to a friend.
    • Using MS Internet Explorer (and other similar browsers) you may use the  "Backspace" key to go back a page; "Alt" and the right and left arrow keys to go forward and back, respectively. But is not recommended due to our cart being database driven. Simply follow our on-screen buttons and icons.

    Q. Is my confidential information secure?
    A. Whenever Herbal Hut asks you to send confidential information over the Internet, including personal account data, we require that a "secure session" using SSL first be established.

    Q. What is a "secure session" and how does it help keep my information safe?
    A. During a secure SSL session, data passed back and forth between your computer and www.herbalhut.com systems is secured by using public key cryptography. Your computer exchanges key information with www.herbalhut.com servers to create a private conversation that only your computer and www.herbalhut.com servers can understand.
    You'll notice that your browser will indicate a padlock or similar icon at the bottom or top of the screen and the address will change to

    Q. What specifically is SSL?SSL Certificate
    A. Any time you supply information in one of our secure online areas, that information is encrypted by a technology called Secure Sockets Layer, often abbreviated as SSL. SSL technology secretly encodes information as it is being sent over the Internet between your computer and Herbal Hut shared systems, helping to ensure that the information remains confidential. The use of SSL requires two components: an SSL-compatible browser and a web server to perform the "key-exchange" that establishes an SSL connection to Herbal Hut Shared Web server systems.

    Q. What type of browser do I need?
    A. To benefit from SSL technology, you will need a browser with SSL capabilities. Examples of SSL browsers include Netscape 2.0+, Microsoft's Internet Explorer 2.0+, and the Web browser for America Online version 3.0+ for Windows.

    Q. What type of connection do I need?
    A. Nearly all Internet Service Providers (ISPs) automatically enable the SSL session described above, as do most online services such as America Online, CompuServe, and Prodigy. If you use your company's internal connection to access the Internet and you find you can not access Herbal Hut's secured pages with an SSL browser described above, your company may be blocking access via a "firewall". Please speak to your firm's Internet access systems administrator for further details on your network's Internet access.

    Q. Why can I still see some of my account information even after I leave the secure area?
    A. Browser software often "caches" pages as you look at them, meaning that some pages are saved in your computer's temporary memory. Therefore, you may find that clicking on your back button shows you a saved version of a previously viewed page. Please keep in mind that caching in no way affects the security of your confidential data. If you use your computer in a public place, please read "What should I do if I am using a 'public' computer?" below.

    Q. What should I do if I am using a "public"computer?
    A. If you use a computer that others also work and you are uncomfortable that they may view "cached" pages after you have left the station, then please quit/exit/close your browser software before leaving. This will decrease the possibility of anyone viewing confidential information. No other users will be able to access your secure information online.

    Q. What are "Cookies"? Do I need to accept them ?
    A. A cookie is a text file on your computer that reminds our system of your particular browser preferences and security requirements and lets Herbal Hut know exactly who you are. If your browser prompts you when a cookie is "served", you must accept it or access to confidential information will be denied, because we will not be able to ensure that the data is being sent to the proper parties. Because cookies are site specific, only herbal hut can access, decode, and make use of the information.
