Elecampane

Elecampane contains two anti-amebic compounds, alantolactone and isoalantolactone. Give Elecampane a try if you suffer from intestinal amoebas (parasites). Make a tea by adding one teaspoon per cup of boiling water, then simmer for 20 minutes. You may drink three cups daily.

Respected herbalist David Hoffman, author of Herbal Handbook, reports antiseptic expectorant and lung-protective benefits for this herb.

For those suffering from emphysema, try a couple of teaspoons of dried herb per cup of boiling water. Elecampane is bitter, so you may want to add lemon, Licorice and/or honey to taste. Or, make a tea of mixed herbs with Mullein, Cardamom, Eucalyptus and/or Peppermint. Use two teaspoons per cup of boiling water.

For individuals with laryngitis, try a three-herb combo tea made by mixing a teaspoon each of Elecampane, Horehound and Mullein per cup of boiling water. Steep for ten minutes. Drink a cup 3 times daily.

Not to be used during pregnancy or while nursing. Large doses may cause vomiting, diarrhea, spasms, and symptoms of paralysis.
