Dong Quai is known as the archetypal herbal remedy for women, the female ginseng. It is an ancient, popular Chinese herb that is marvelously effective in the treatment of a wide range of women's gynecological problems.

Dong Quai is also a good all-around women's reproductive system and sexual tonic. It is a very balanced herb.

Relieves gynecological symptoms, such as scanty periods, irregular periods, and symptoms of PMS. Being particular good on menstrual cramping or in general weakness. Effectively relieves the symptoms of menopause, especially hot flashes.

Because of its reputation as a sexual enhancer, it is one of the most widely used herbs in Chinese herbal medicine.  Typically, three to six teaspoons of powdered root are added to a pint (16 fl oz/480ml) of boiling water. Women drink up to three cups of the tea a day. Do not take if you are pregnant.

May also help prevent anemia, lower high blood pressure, treat insomnia, improve mental acuity and fatigue, relieve symptoms of daily stress and may help relieve constipation in both sexes.

  • Recommended Dosage
Capsule: One up to three times daily.
Tincture: One teaspoon up to three times daily.
Extract: ½ to 1 teaspoon up to twice daily.
Not to be used during pregnancy or by those taking blood thinning agents. Can aggravate loose stools or diarrhea.
