Comfreys are among the most important medicinal herbs. They contain allantoin, a hormone-like substance that stimulates cell division, making it valuable for healing wounds, ulcers, broken bones and skin injuries. It also relieves chest congestion. Tea and poultices of leaves and roots are used. SAFETY GUIDELINES: For external use only. Should not be used on abraded skin and on broken skin for long periods of time. Not to be used during pregnancy. Not recommended for long-term use.
