Some women may develop acne each month prior to their menstrual periods, when hormone levels are fluctuating. Chaste Tree (also commonly called Vitex), imitates the action of some hormones, such as estrogen and progesterone, and has been used for thousands of years to remedy a number of hormonal irregularities.

It has been successfully used to treat acne and premenstrual herpes on the lip for external use.

The fresh ripe berries are pounded to a pulp and used in the form of a tincture for the relief of paralysis, pains in the limbs, weakness, etc.

Not to be used during pregnancy or nursing.  May counteract the effectiveness of birth control pills.
