Burgos, Spain report 3 cases of contact dermatitis caused by burdock
root poultices. Herbs for Health (Nov./Dec.). p. 68., reviewing
Rodriguez, P. et al. 1995. |
Burdock contains
polyacetylenes which naturally kill bacteria and fungi. The
Chinese use it for its calming tendencies.
This herb is an excellent blood purifier and is rich in iron, insulin and minerals;
rids the body of toxins and promotes urine flow and perspiration--helping you shed excess
water weight.
Burdock has a tonic effect on the stomach and kidneys.
Can be used internally or externally to treat skin conditions such as eczema,
psoriasis, poison ivy and oak, boils and canker sores.
Recent medical evidence supports folkloric use for tumors.
One of the four herbs in the
Essiac® anti-cancer formula.
A hot compress (dip towel in hot Burdock tea) is used to soothe the swelling of
arthritis, rheumatism and in dealing with hemorrhoids.
