Notes In large doses
pyrrolizides in Borage are toxic to the liver.
Warning Not recommended for long term use. Not to be used while
pregnant or nursing.
Known as the Herb of Gladness for its exhilarating effect.
Cool off with iced Borage tea, adding honey and lemon to taste.
Borage contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) which helps treat Raynaud's Disease
(painfully cold, bluish-white fingers).

RECOMMENDATIONS -
although the plant leaf and seed contain trace amounts of PAs, the refined
oil for nutritional use is safe. Independent testing has confirmed that no
PAs are detectable in borage seed oil at detection limits of 4 micrograms
per kilogram of oil (4 parts per billion).
