Ensure freshness and potency.
Capsules bought in the store are so expensive and often
times very poor quality. When you buy herbs by the capsule you are usually
paying around $60 a pound and for herbs that may be only worth $3-$5 a
pound. They are rarely labeled as wild crafted or organic. Yet it's so
simple to fill capsules!
Two "00" capsules are considered the adult standard dose. It takes
approximately one ounce of herb to make 30 capsules. Each "00" capsule
contains about 1/2 teaspoon of herb.
The advantage of capsules is that they are easy, quick, and tasteless. Also,
people are familiar with allopathic medicine where this is the standard
format for treatment. Powdering a root or herb greatly shortens its shelf
life, however, once in a capsule the herb will hold it's medicinal
properties for some time. The disadvantages of capsules found when the
digestive system is compromised. In this case the herb will not be fully
digested and utilized. Digestive systems are often not functioning properly
when a person is sick. This is where liquid
extracts,
tinctures and
teas have an advantage over capsule.
You can open up the capsule, fill it with powdered herb and then put the cap
back on. It is sometwhat time consuming.
We recommend a Cap-M-Quick or The Capsule Machine (below). With this handy
device you open up 50 capsules, placing them in wells. Then you raise the
platform and pour powdered herb out onto it. Using the small card
(included), you scoop the herb over all the holes and tap the device a few
times to settle the herbs down in their respective capsules. Then you lower
the platform and recap capsule bottoms now full of herb. It's that easy.
Make sure your hands are dry when working with capsules. Any moisture will
cause them to stick together. Store capsules in bags or
amber glass jars away from
moisture, light and heat. Moisture will ruin the capsules; light and heat
will breakdown the medicinal properties of the herbs. You can make single
herb capsules or combine herbs to make combinations like a cold or flu
formula, or one for the heart and high blood pressure, or memory, or the
eyes, or blood purification, the possibilities are limitless.

capsule filling machine. Common problems (such as separation after filling and dented
ends) are virtually eliminated.
These vegetable capsules are gelatin, starch and preservative free and made from pure
vegetable sources. Consists only of Kosher ingredients and free from all animal products.
